Abitur preparation courses offer focused preparation for the English Abitur
These courses teach not only linguistic knowledge, but also skills such as text analysis and its specific vocabulary, writing style, examination technique and specific vocabulary for use in the analysis of literary texts. The aim is to improve these abilities to such an extent that the student performs to the very best of their abilities in their Abitur or their English oral exam and achieves their best possible mark. The language courses are individualized for the different Bundesländer and are tailored to the content of their Abitur exam. Each course also takes into account whether the student must take a written exam, an oral exam, or both. A mock examination under Abitur conditions and a mock oral exam are set accordingly as part of the programme. Each participant can choose from a range of key topics (such as Shakespeare, Presentations, or Essay Structure and Style) to create their own individual language course.
Because the Abitur is only relevant to Germany, the English Abitur preparatory classes are made up of only German students. Nevertheless, a strict “English-only” rule is implemented in the classroom. These classes consist of very small groups of not more than five students, in order to prepare for the exam as intensively as possible. As well as the group lessons, each student will be given two half-hour one-on-one lessons, which will focus on correcting their individual weaknesses.
Teaching takes place at a historical Oxford University college
In addition to the English lessons, the course price includes a leisure programme with a trip to London and various activities. However, because the programme is very intensive, these activities are rather fewer than those offered as part of a classic holiday programme. Accommodation is offered either in a host family or at a boarding school in Oxford. The programme runs for at least two weeks, but can also be attended for a shortened period of just one week. The course is offered with either 30 or 40 teaching hours during the Easter and summer school holidays.

The courses offer anyone who plans to take an advanced English course in their senior year, or who is considering attending a British boarding school, the opportunity to prepare intensively and comprehensively.
