Language certificate to study in the USA
TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language)
The TOEFL test is the American counterpart of the IELTS and is required by universities in the USA for non-native speakers. In Great Britain the TOEFL is used less-frequently.
International universities in Germany with degree programmes in English accept both the IELTS and TOEFL exam facultative.
Today’s TOEFL is internet-based and taken on the computer. Like the other certifications, the exam is divided in four parts and it generally lasts around four hours. The reading comprehension is tested on the basis of 3 to 5 texts in which up to 70 questions have to be answered. This part lasts from one hour to one and a half hours. The listening part has the same duration and consists of 50 questions on recordings of lectures and conversations. The speaking exam lasts 20 minutes in which the examinee has six questions to answer. Last but not least, the writing skills are tested. This part lasts 50 minutes in which two tasks and/or questions have to be answered.
Around 50 exam dates are spread over the year. We help you find the proper course for your preparation to the TOEFL exam. The results of the exam are given around 10 days after the test. The examination can be taken as often as desired and is valid for two years.
